[align=center]This is a workshop for a full doll. You will get 3 Kisses for completing it. We will be doing a doll in a gown and a doll in casual clothes of your choosing. We are starting out with a gown.

A few rules:
Never be afraid to ask something. Sometimes I can be unclear, and it's ok to be a noob :3
Don't take CC personally, I'm here to help.
My way or the highway, sorry.
I will offer any side help needed anytime, feel free to catch me in dollchat, pm me or ask in the thread.
Attendance is a must. You must check in at least once during each "period" listed below or you will be dropped. Let me know ahead of time if you'll be gone for an extended period of time.
If her cooter and boobs are showin', you're redistributing! Draw a Swimsuit over her :)

We are on Step 6, 7 and 8
Step 6: Make sure you're happy with your lines and shapes, it'll be harder to fix later!
Develop your palette. For shiny things, your highlight colors should be light. For heavier fabrics, more shadow. It can be trial and error and you can adjust it as you're shading. You'll need 7 colors. Number them from 1-7, darkest to lightest. You can share if you're unsure.
Hue-shift is your friend!
Step 7: Define your lightsource!!! This can be from in front but you still need some indication/guidelines to where the light will fall. I like to use a compass like sketch. Feel free to doodle a sun or a lightbulb if you wish.
Step 8: Define your folds. Use extreme opposite colors, Red and yellow for example and find the folds on the reference pictures.

Previous steps
Step 1: Chose your dress shape. Something simple. No extravagant folds or billions of layers. You're welcome to google and use references but select the shape from this: (It would also be great to present your references(s) )
Skirts

Necks

Step 2: Chose a base, make sure it's realistic. Toolers love realistic bases and proportionate heads are easier to learn on. Don't direct link them here just link to the site and tell me the name.
Step 3: Edit the base. Moe is ugly so give her a new face! Be sure to use pencil, not the brush! Not all toolers love Moe but the majority do so save your face edit for later use if you want. Also give her a more contrasting skintone. You can also give her different color but be realistic. Here you can also swap alternate legs and arms.
Step 4: Sketch out your gown. This can be done with the brush or pencil. I prefer pencil because I'm terrible at real sketching. You should also block it out during this step. You may use an outline color and a block color to keep fold guides. Use multiple colors for multiple sections. Make sure the dress has at least 2 sections, a bodice and the skirt.
Step 5: Block your hair! Use mulptiple colors for sections like bangs and main and/or ponytail. A straight hairstyle is easier to learn than wavy or curly!

My Step One:
Halter+trumpet
Image
I've picked a dress that gets pulled to one part, I don't recommend it for people with little dress/tooling experience.

XD Lyri's post put me in a chinese dress mood. I'll probably end up turning this into another Lina doll.

So, I kinda want to do this one:
Image
But I'm kinda afraid of the skirt length. I have no clue if that's going to make it harder for me to do.

oooooooor...Maybe this:
Image
It looks like it could be much simpler.

Shixam, surprisingly that looks harder to me.
The first is a trumpet skirt and you could do the chinese nect and add the patterns and black trim from the first.
The shape would be roughly
Image
It's okay to use multiple example and since you could use those 2 as examples you need to find one for folds. So here's one:
Image
The "sketch" I did doesn't show how the bottom is a separate piece. We can work that out when you start lining it :3

I'll update though others still have a chance to catch up!
Step 2:
Chose a base, make sure it's realistic. Toolers love realistic bases and proportionate heads are easier to learn on. Don't direct link them here just link to the site and tell me the name.
I'm gonna pick Moe. LE SHOCK >>
Bases I'd recommend, copypasted from my shop list XD
DHF: Moe, or Doris
The Pixel Corner: Natural F
Jishin: Rose, Realistic, China
Fainelloth: Maia, Betty
